We see games as a meaningful space — a place where we come together to share worlds, play, and connect. Our hope is that every game lets players feel something beyond themselves and their everyday life. We craft story-driven board games with care, designed to spark imagination and meaningful play.

OUR STORY

Plotmaker began the way most good stories do: with what looked like a chance meeting.

In 2013, Snorre and Asger crossed paths while working on LEGO projects. Snorre dreamed of graphic novels. Asger had spent a lifetime playing games. One cup of coffee later, the graphic novel had turned into a board game — and the world of London Dread was born.

Not long after, the story reached another turning point. Four dice sat on a desk at the ad agency where Asger worked. He picked them up and told his colleagues:

If I roll four sixes, I’ll start a board game company.

The dice landed. Four perfect sixes. A stunned silence around the table.

And that was the birth of Plotmaker Games (true story).

The name came naturally. Snorre tells stories through lines and colors. Asger through words and worlds. Together, they wanted to make plots you could touch, hold, and play.

For a while, Plotmaker was a side-gig.

Then came a competition to design an educational game for the Municipality of Copenhagen. We applied. We won. That led us to found Play Circle, our sister studio, creating custom reflection games for organizations.

Our love for simple, elegant rules stems from years of designing this catalogue of games for non-gamers. That experience taught us how to make play feel natural, even for people new to board games.

Over time, the right people found their way into the studio. Today, we’re building the team we always hoped for.

For us, every game is a story meant to be shared. When you step into a character’s shoes, you’re sharing their journey. At the table, you live the experience together — the tension, the laughter, the choices that linger. Afterwards, you retell it in anecdotes that live on long after the box is closed.

And when we see you play our games at conventions — or even better, when we get to sit down and play with you — that’s when our work feels most alive.

That’s what Plotmaker is about: moments we remember together.

With a love of games and a mind for physics, Niels keeps our mechanics rock solid. He stress-tests every card, token, and die until the system hums — so the story flows and the rules stay true.
